Thompson-Okanagan Farm Tours

Note to All Farm Tour Participants:

Food borne illness can result from close contact with farm animals.

To reduce the risk of any food borne illness be sure that all farm tour participants wash their hands with soapy, warm, running water and dry their hands with a clean paper towel before either eating at the farm, on the bus or back at the school.

Agriculture in the Classroom does not review or monitor any of the farm tour facilities offered in the list below. It is up to you as the farm visitor to be aware of the risks associated with visiting a farm. (See Tips for Tours)

Comments: Several parts-guided tour, displays, video on the industry. Project packages given to teachers. Lecture/slide presentation at school on request. Free samples. Comments: Large, old family farm. 1-hour guided wagon tour. Learn about orchard industry history and technology (old and new to be seen here). Introduction to new varieties. Hay ride. Farm animals. Sample pressed apple juice and Fuji bag with dried fruit. Farm store.

Comments: The grist mill at Keremeos, a provincial historic site, allows students to observe the day to day operations of a grist mill from 1877. Guided tour of the main building, exhibits, as well as the heritage gardens and orchard.
