2010 - 2011 School Year
We are now accepting applications for the 2010-11 school year. The deadline for applications is May 28th.
APPLICATIONS ARE LIMITED TO QUALIFIED SCHOOLS.
Who Qualifies?
- The program is only available to BC secondary school Teaching Kitchens managed by Certified Chef Instructors that offer a Culinary Arts course to enrolled students. Chefs should be certified or can be working towards their certification.
- Your School must be located in either the Greater Vancouver or Fraser Valley Regional Districts.
- Chef Instructors must be a member in good standing with the BC Culinary Arts Specialists Association. Link to the British Columbia Culinary Arts Specialists Association
What defines a Teaching Kitchen?
The following criteria are used to define a Teaching Kitchen:
- A full time Chef Instructor is employed by a school district
- Full time classes are run in a professional kitchen environment
- The program is licensed by Fraser Health and posts a permit to operate
- The program sells products created, to the school population on a daily basis during breaks and/or lunch time
- The program follows a Cook Training Level 1 secondary style curriculum
