2010 - 2011 School Year

We are now accepting applications for the 2010-11 school year.  The deadline for applications is May 28th.

APPLICATIONS ARE LIMITED TO QUALIFIED SCHOOLS.

Who Qualifies?

  1. The program is only available to BC secondary school Teaching Kitchens managed by Certified Chef Instructors that offer a Culinary Arts course to enrolled students.  Chefs should be certified or can be working towards their certification.
  2. Your School must be located in either the Greater Vancouver or Fraser Valley Regional Districts.
  3. Chef Instructors must be a member in good standing with the BC Culinary Arts Specialists Association.  Link to the British Columbia Culinary Arts Specialists Association

What defines a Teaching Kitchen?

The following criteria are used to define a Teaching Kitchen:

  • A full time Chef Instructor is employed by a school district
  • Full time classes are run in a professional kitchen environment
  • The program is licensed by Fraser Health and posts a permit to operate
  • The program sells products created, to the school population on a daily basis during breaks and/or lunch time
  • The program follows a Cook Training Level 1 secondary style curriculum
